How To Clean Fabric Couch

Refresh Your Fabric Couch

After a long day, your cozy couch is the perfect place to unwind, which occasionally involves stinky feet, a fatty late-night snack, or a glass of red wine. Those scents build up over time, wipes, and clogs and your couch is begging for a deep cleaning before you realize it. This method will even get rid of things you can not see, such as sloughed-off skin cells (ew!) . If you have a natural-fabric couch (such as cotton, linen, or wool) here’s how to make it look like new again.

Identify the type of dirt and dust while vacuuming as follows:

01

Invisible particles

This is the sort of dirt that people are unable to be viewed with our bare eyes. These dust and dirt can damage a person’s health. It may lead to respiratory issues, when any these particles.

02

Visible Particles

This dirt is visible to our naked eyes like sand, fur and hair, etc..

03

Large Particles

This is the biggest type of dirt that can be clearly been seen by people like candy wrappers, hair tie, stapler bullets, coins, leaves torn paper, paper hole punch and paper clips.

Identify the Fabric

Couches come in lots of shapes and fabrics, with some even having removable and washable cushions. If you are fortunate enough to have a couch that is linen or cotton-blend, you can wash it using natural ingredients.

Before beginning, give your couch a good once-over to determine what it is made from. Most have a tag that identifies it as:

W: OK to use water for cleaning.
S: Just use a solvent-based cleaner on fabric.

  • SW: Either water or a solvent cleaner is safe to use.
  • X: Just use a vacuum cleaner for cleaning.

Prep Your Couch

Get your couch prepared for grooming by using a clean and sterile white hand towel or washcloth to brush the entire piece of furniture, breaking up any dried-on spots and removing any bits that have made houses of nooks and crannies. You can use a stiff brush for this measure. Avoid using any colored towels or sponges, as the dye can alter the color of your couch.

Deep-Clean

Sprinkle the entire couch with a good heap of baking soda. Baking soda helps discharge lurking smells and break stains in the fabric up. If you’re feeling your couch really needs a serious mix together this carpet cleaner that is dry, clean, and use for covering the fabric.

Allow the baking soda to sit up and on the couch for a minimum of 20 minutes to an hour before vacuuming using a brush attachment.

Stains, Begone

Now take a close look at the couch to find any lingering stains. Mix this cleaning solution that is easy together, and do a fabric spot test in an unseen location to check if there’s any discoloration. Dip the washcloth in the cleaning solution, and gently dab and rub stains — or use for wiping down the entire couch. You’ll be amazed with the results!

Just Like New

Allow the couch to wash, and touch up as needed. Until it is completely dry it may seem darker in color. This cleaning method is safe to use on fabrics and can be done anytime before you have friends, a cleaning is needed by your couch — like right over!
